Biotope is a portmanteau of “bio” (biological) and “top” (place).
The grounds feature some ninety varieties of trees like dawn redwoods and camphor trees, and carp, rice fish, and crayfish inhabit the water.
Some fifty varieties of wild birds can be found on premises, such as thrush and black-backed wagtail. This makes it a perfect destination for birdwatching.

The ponds on the grounds are home to Oga lotus blossoms, also called 2,000 year lotus. From late June to mid-August, they are in bloom.
If you wish to stroll the grounds, please apply at the guard post at the entrance.
