The Katsunuma Winery was established in 1976 in Katsunuma-cho, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese wine.
In April 2012, the winery was transformed into the Grand Polaire Katsunuma Winery, a premium winery dedicated to the production and dissemination of information about the Japanese Grand Polaire wine (Note 1).

(Note 1) Grand Polaire is a Japanese wine made by taking advantage of the beautiful Japanese climate in Hokkaido, Nagano, Yamanashi, and Okayama to create a delicate and balanced flavor that brings out the unique character of the grapes.
